Robert Trent James Stein died some fifteen or so years ago of cancer of the pancreas.
If memory serves me correctly RTJS was a Reader at the University of Sydney Law School on his death. He was Vice-Principal of St Andrew’s College, within the University of Sydney. He played the organ at my wedding to Laura at the St Andrew’s College Chapel. He enjoyed a distinguished academic career after his undergraduate law honours degree at the Australian National University.
He was awarded a masters degree from Dalhousie, Canada, and finally a doctorate (thesis on Torrens title) from The University of Sydney.
He turned out to be an extremely witty dinner companion especially at High Table at St Andrews. My wife and I miss him.
